Sydney Morrell is poised to finish her prep running career on a high note and the Cheyenne Central senior has already committed to Iowa State University. Morrell won the 800-meter run at the Casper indoor track meet on Saturday and also ran the 800 anchor leg in the 1600 sprint medley which was won by the Indians.

Morrell's running credentials are solid, to say the least. She is the defending 800-meter state champion on the indoor circuit and placed 2nd in the 400 and 1600 meters at the state meet in 2022. In outdoor track, Morrell is the reigning 4A state champion in the 3200-meter run and placed 2nd at the state meet in the 800 and 1600 plus a 3rd place finish in the 400.

If that's not enough, Morrell won the 4A state championship in cross country as her Central squad repeated as the 4A team champions. It takes an incredible amount of skill and effort to run the distance races, in addition to the 400-meter sprint. We caught up with her after her 800-meter leg in that 1600 medley and it was just another day on the track for her.

We also have some awesome pics of Saturday's indoor meet courtesy of Shannon Dutcher in our gallery below. Enjoy!
