The final weekend of the 2024 season is finally here for 3A and 4A boys’ basketball teams in Wyoming. Two squads will earn a state championship during the second weekend in March 2024. The Class 3A and 4A boys’ basketball state tournaments will be in Casper at the Ford Wyoming Center (FWC), Casper College (CC), and Kelly Walsh High School (KWHS). Both defending champions will have a shot to repeat after qualifying for the state tournament. The Worland Warriors are the defending champions in Class 3A. Cheyenne East won last year’s crown in 4A.

Day one action is at the Ford Wyoming Center. Day two is at Casper College. The consolation and third-place games are at Kelly Walsh High School. The championship is at the Ford Wyoming Center on Saturday, March 9, 2024. It is the second of the four big school state championship games.

3A BOYS STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKET

THURSDAY, MARCH 7:

Final Score: (2E) Buffalo 39 (3W) Worland 35 - Bison outscored the Warriors 8-1 in the 4th Qtr. Patterson had 18 pts for Buffalo

Final Score: (1W) Powell 76 (4E) Rawlins 45 - Panthers pulled away in the 2nd Qtr. Lewis led 4 Powell players in double figures with 15 pts. They forced 22 turnovers.

Final Score: (3E) Wheatland 43 (2W) Lovell 41 - OT - Nichols had 13 pts and the game-winner off a rebound at the buzzer in OT.

Final Score: (1E) Douglas 80 (4W) Pinedale 52 - Curtis goes for 30 pts and Rinn adds 20 pts in the Bearcats win.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8:

Final Score: Rawlins 57 Worland 53 – Warriors are eliminated; Outlaws rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit. Allard scored 15 pts in the 4th Qtr. He finished with 29 pts.

Final Score: Lovell 52 Pinedale 49 – Wranglers are eliminated; Walker paced the Bulldogs with 19 pts.

Final Score: Powell 50 Buffalo 43 – Panthers had 2 players in double-figures, Erickson with 17 pts and Johnson had 16 pts. Powell was last in the title game in 2018.

Final Score: Wheatland 36 Douglas 32 – OT; Bulldogs make it to the title game for the first time since 2011. Nichols with 13 pts and Stenson had 12 pts for Wheatland.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9:

Final Score: Lovell 66 Rawlins 43 – Consolation: Bulldogs used a 16-0 run in the 3rd Qtr to take control. Anderson and Romero combined for 37 pts for Lovell.

Final Score: Douglas 73 Buffalo 61  – 3rd Place Game: Halquist had 29 pts for the Bearcats. Rinn and Curtis added 13 apiece.

Final Score: Powell 49 Wheatland 34 – Championship Game - Panthers win their 1st title since 1998 and just the 4th in school history. Erickson scored 14 pts and Johnson added 11 to lead Powell to the victory and an undefeated season at 26-0.

The championship is at the Ford Wyoming Center on Saturday, March 9, 2024. It is the last of the four big school state championship games.

Final Score: (2W) Star Valley 45 (3E) Cheyenne East 43 - C. Lancaster had 15 pts for Star Valley. Gaskell added 11 pts and 10 rebs.

Final Score: (1E) Laramie 57 (4W) Evanston 38 - Summers had 22 pts and 11 rebs for Laramie.

Final Score: (2E) Cheyenne Central 73 (3W) Riverton 48 - Talich with 27 pts for the Indians. Sawyer added 18.

Final Score: (4E) Natrona County 61 (1W) Jackson 56 - Rogers led NC with 24 pts. and the Mustangs shot 51% for the game.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8:

Final Score: Cheyenne East 61 Evanston 40 - Red Devils are eliminated; Hayes led East with 16 pts.

Final Score: Jackson 65 Riverton 61 - Wolverines are eliminated; Broncs got 29 pts from Hanna and 16 from Keelin in the win.

Final Score: Laramie 55 Star Valley 49 - Plainsmen make it to the title game for a 2nd-straight year behind a double-double from Summers with 18 pts and 11 rebs.

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 67 Natrona County 55 - Shumway led all scorers with 28 pts and Talich added 13 for the Indians.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9:

Final Score: Cheyenne East 65 Jackson 54 – Consolation: T-Birds got 21 points from Jackson and 17 from Mirich. Brunner and Hanna finished with 17 each for Jackson.

Final Score: Natrona County 75 Star Valley 66 – 3rd Place Game: 4 Mustangs in double-figures led by Rogers with 20 pts.

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 62 Laramie 59 – Championship Game - Sawyer led the way for the Indians with 19 pts and 7 rebs. for their 27th school title, the last one was in 2021. Talich added 18 pts.
