Mason Fire Still 70 Percent Contained, Size Estimate Revised
The latest report on the Mason Fire burning southwest of Laramie says the blaze is still 70 percent contained, but the estimated amount of acreage burned in the blaze has been changed.
Kate Allred of Albany County Emergency Management/Homeland Security released the following statement on Friday evening:
November 17th 2023 - 5:45 pm
The fire South of Hwy 230 by Mason Lane and Lewis Rd: Due to better mapping, the acres burned has been updated to approximately 67.7. There are still responders on scene, and it remains 70% contained at this time.
We will continue to update as information comes in.
Please continue to avoid the area and give responders room to work.

11/17 - 11:15 A.M. UPDATE
Albany County Emergency Management in a Facebook update at 11:15 a.m. Friday said there are currently 27 responders on the scene.
"It is 70% contained at this time," the post reads.
6:20 P.M. UPDATE:
Albany County Emergency Management says the fire hasn't burned any further acreage than reported at 11 a.m., and still remains approximately 50% contained.
Officials say a fire burning southwest of Laramie along the Laramie River near Harmony has scorched approximately 100 acres.
"At this time, it is approximately 50% contained," the post reads.
The agency says high winds and dry conditions are fueling the fire.
People are being asked to avoid the area to give responders room to work.
