Does This Video Show A Moose And Elk Fighting Or Hanging Out?
Wyoming is full of characters. It could be the old rancher who has a story for every occasion, a cowboy who talks about his glory days in the rodeo, or maybe it's the wildlife. I'm fairly certain that if they could talk, they'd have some incredible stories.
One story you may hear from the wildlife would be from a porcupine who was minding his own business and saw it happen with his own two eyes.
The story of a young bull moose and a young bull elk facing off in a meadow. Battling it out for supreme dominance in an area that's overcrowded with big game. It's a no-holds-barred fight. It's winner takes all. The loser has to pack up its antlers and head for different pastures.
The problem with Mr. Porcupine's story is that there wasn't a battle between a young bull moose and a young bull elk. It was actually two buddies who were frolicking through the meadow in search of their next adventure. See, porcupines are known to have bad vision, and likely all he could see was the two larger animals trotting past him near the treeline.
This video was captured and posted by Good Bull Guided on their Facebook page and shows these young studs having a good time hanging out together. Just like a couple of bros on a mission to possibly find a couple of young ladies to hang out with.
How lucky are we to live in a wild state, with opportunity after opportunity to capture memorable moments like this?
A lesson you can take away from this is that even though the story you hear may grab your attention and be highly entertaining, there may be parts that aren't true. It's not always a great idea to take everything those old porcupines say as the gospel, but every story can be used as a learning moment.
