LARAMIE -- I don't mean to boast, but this makes two weeks in a row that I sit atop the standings.

No big deal.

I'm taking a chance -- or five -- in my picks this weekend. Can a resurgent New Mexico offense get it done in front of a sellout crowd in Fort Collins? Will UCF finally knock off unbeaten BYU? Can Navy really outlast Notre Dame? Is Texas cooked after losing to Georgia at home? No way Vanderbilt can pull off another huge upset, right?

Well, I'm taking mostly 'dogs in these matchups. I have some ground to make up in the overall standings, and, let's face it, I bet against teams I want to lose.

See example one and two above.

Utah State is heading to Laramie this Saturday with a matching 1-6 record. The Aggies have dropped six straight since routing Robert Morris in the opener. That school is in Pittsburgh, if you were wondering. I only know that because I lived there.

The visitors score in bunches. They also give up a ton of points. By ton I mean nearly 44 per game. They've given up 45 or more in the last four outings.

Why do I believe in the Cowpokes this weekend? When I looked out on to War Memorial Stadium at practice Tuesday night I saw something I haven't seen in months: health. Wyoming's defense is nearly -- finally -- intact.

Isaac White and Wyett Ekeler were roaming the secondary.

Can Wyoming's two-QB system light a fire under this stagnant offensive attack? We'll see. Both Evan Svoboda and Kaden Anderson, according to Jay Sawvel, will be under center in the first quarter.

kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. and the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

Here are last week's standings:

Cody: 9-3

Jen: 9-3

Keith Kelley: 9-3

Ryan Thorburn: 8-4

Doug: 8-4

Jared: 8-4

DJ: 8-4

Mat: 6-6

Overall standings:

DJ: 66-30

Jen: 66-30

Jared: 64-32

Cody: 61-35

Doug: 61-35

Mat: 58-38

It's almost Cowboy basketball season. So, we decided to ask a couple of former big men -- Josh Davis and Adam Waddell -- to be guest pickers this week. Wyoming will host The College of Idaho Friday at 6:30 p.m. inside the Arena-Auditorium.

Just The Facts: Size Doesn't Matter For Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium

Did you know it would take the populations of Gillette (32,857), Laramie (32,381), Rock Springs (23,319), Sheridan (17,844) and Wright (1,200) to create a sellout inside Michigan's famed 107,601-seat Big House, the largest college football stadium in the nation?

For those of you not familiar with the Cowboy State, those are Wyoming's third through sixth most inhabited cities, along with the small mining town in Campbell County.
