The Wyoming Department of Transportation lowered the gates on Interstate 80 west out of Cheyenne shortly after midnight Thursday morning, as a midwinter storm and high winds continued to bear down on the Northern Rockies.

Shortly after 12:15 am, WYDOT reported the interstate, the main east-west artery across Wyoming, closed from Sinclair east to Cheyenne. Happy Jack Rd., Wyo. 210, was also closed at the Curt Gowdy State Park boundary west of Cheyenne.

Other routes from Cheyenne remained open at 12:30 am, as only wind was reported in the capitol city ahead of the diminishing storm. For live updates on road conditions, check our road page or dial 511. Tune in for live weather updates, or check our weather forecast page.
