Hatchet-Wielding Man Charged After Alleged Threat at Cheyenne Motel
A 29-year-old Cheyenne transient could face up to ten years in prison after allegedly threatening to kill a man with a hatchet.
According to court documents, police were called to the Guest Ranch Motel at 1100 W. Lincolnway around 2 a.m. on May 25 after Shawn Overton reportedly got into a fight with his girlfriend and threatened the man she was staying with.
Police say the man told them that Overton was holding a hatchet when he "charged at him" and stated he was going to kill him.
Overton was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery-threatens with weapon.
Overton is being held in the Laramie County Jail on $7,500 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 2.
