Former Laramie County Commissioner M. Lee Hasenauer is trying to re-energize the local Tea Party movement, starting with a rally Saturday afternoon at the Laramie County Library.

Hasenauer says he wants to reach the people who typically don't vote on election day by educating them on such issues as taxation and government spending. He says another objective is to find credible candidates for office and involve activists in on-going political discussions, as opposed to simply showing up at a rally, waiving some signs and going home.

Hasenauer is asking supporters to attend Saturday afternoon's rally from 3-5 p.m. in the Cottonwood Room of the Laramie County Library.

He says the meeting will be addressed by a variety of conservative and Tea Party activists from around Wyoming and Colorado, including former Wyoming gubernatorial candidate Dr.Taylor Haynes.

Hasenauer, a Republican, served one term on the Laramie County Commission. He was defeated by Democrat Ron Kailey in last November's general election.
