Hasenauer: Voters Tired Of GOP Establishment
A spokesman for the Laramie County Tea Party movement says the apparent success of Republican presidential candidates who are seen as 'anti-establishment' in national polls is revealing.
M. Lee Hasenauer says Donald Trump, Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina are all doing well in polling because "the establishment politicians in Washington haven't been listening to we the people".
Of the four people mentioned by Haseneauer, Cruz is a U.S. Senator from Texas who is widely considered a Tea Party favorite. Trump, Carson and Fiorina have never held political office, although Fiorina unsuccessfully ran for the U.S. Senate in California in 2012.
Although there haven't been any votes cast yet in the 2016 presidential race--and won't be for several months--Hasenauer says the polling numbers are sending a clear message to the traditional leadership of the Republican Party.
Hasenauer is a political activist and former Laramie County Commissioner. He made the comments in advance of Cruz's appearance on Thursday afternoon at a Republican party fundraiser at the Hereford Ranch in Laramie County.
