Governor Gordon Congratulates Wyoming Pathways for CRT Award
LARAMIE -- In the wake of the Pole Mountain Trail Project winning the 2019 Coalition for Recreational Trails Achievement Award, Governor Mark Gordon posted a congratulatory message to Wyoming Pathways on his Facebook page:
"Congratulations to Wyoming Pathways. It's wonderful to see public-private partnerships earn recognition for work that enhances recreation opportunities on our public lands."

“To continue this worthwhile project, we need your help,” said Tim Young, executive director of Wyoming Pathways. “Financial support for the 2019 Project is coming primarily from a National Forest Foundation grant that requires a cash match to receive full funding. This means that the project partners have to raise $25,000 to fully match the grant and maximize the amount of work that can be done this year. So, we are asking that you please support the Pole Mountain Trail Project by donating to the Grant matching Fund.”
Young hopes the public will also consider forwarding this email to your family, friends and any other trail users and outdoor recreation enthusiasts you may know.
“We need everyone's help to reach our fundraising goal and making a donation is a great way to give back to the trails,” said Young. “By donating, you can help us build on the successes of the past two years.”
In 2019 Wyoming Pathways and the Laramie Ranger District are partnering again on the next phase of trail work, to reconstruct almost two miles of the popular Aspen Trail.
The estimated $100,000 project will start in August. In addition, the Laramie Ranger District plans to start on a comprehensive non-motorized trail plan for the entire Pole Mountain trail system, including major community trail connections with the new Pilot Hill open space that connects Laramie and Pole Mountain.
“Great things are happening with trails in the Laramie region and the Pole Mountain Trail Project is a big part of that success. By continuing this project, we hope to ensure that the Pole Mountain trails will continue to improve and that the area will continue to be an outdoor recreation gem of southeast Wyoming,” said Young.
