Governor Matt Mead proclaimed May 5th-12th as National Travel and Tourism Week in Wyoming. 

Diane Shober, Director of the Wyoming Office of Travel and Tourism says in 2011 the tourism industry contributed about $2.8 billion in travel expenditures, $118 million in state and local tax revenues and employed nearly 30,000 people which generated a payroll of $729 million.

The Wyoming Office of Travel and Tourism will host an open house on May 10th at the Cheyenne Welcome Center and Northeast Welcome Center. Several communities have also scheduled open houses, rallies and front line employee recognition events during the week.
