The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is reminding boaters to get their watercraft registered if they're planning on heading out to the lake for the 4th of July.

Mark Fowden, Chief of Fisheries, says the July 4th holiday weekend is typically the busiest boating time of the year.

"We're urging people to get their boats registered early, especially before July 3rd," said Fowden.  "July 3rd is the observed Independence Day holiday for state employees
and so our offices will be closed and boaters who don't have their registration prior to the 3rd will be very unhappy."

Fowden says most registrations can be done online, but new boats must be registered at game and fish regional offices or at headquarters in Cheyenne.
