Fort Collins Woman Arrested In Connection With Death Of Her Son

A 28-year-old Fort Collins woman has been arrested on several charges in connection with a traffic crash that claimed the life of her one-year-old son and seriously injured another juvenile male in August.

That's according to a post on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page. The post says a Tiffany Burke is facing charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, two counts of child abuse, all felonies.

She is also facing a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, according to the post.

The post offers the following version of events in regard to the crash:

''Tiffany Burke, 28, of Fort Collins was driving a Ford Explorer in the Carpenter Rd/County Road 9 collision on August 22, 2019. Investigators determined that she stopped at a stop sign, then made a left turn in front of an eastbound Ford F-350, which had the right of way and no stop sign. During the collision, Burke and an unrestrained juvenile male were ejected from the vehicle. A one-year-old child, later identified by the Larimer County Coroner as Riley Santos, was restrained in the vehicle. The juvenile male and Santos were both seriously injured and transported to Children’s Hospital in Denver. The juvenile male is recovering from extensive injuries. Sadly, Santos succumbed his injuries and was pronounced deceased on August 25, 2019."

The post goes on to say that Burke was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies following the crash. It says evidence gathered during the investigation indicates Burke was high on drugs at the time of the collision.

Burke was arrested on Monday.
