The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service is warning about the possibility of 8-12 inches of snow in Cheyenne between Monday and Wednesday.

Laramie could receive up to eight inches, and two feet of snow could be dumped on higher elevation areas. The service issued this weather statement Sunday morning:

''Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges starting this afternoon and running through Wednesday. Winter Storm Watches have been expanded to cover much of southeast Wyoming and parts of the Nebraska Panhandle from Monday through Wednesday. A cold front is currently moving into northwest Wyoming this morning and is forecast to stall over northern Colorado tonight. Initially, the heavy snow will start over the Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges this afternoon that will last through the overnight hours. Snow becomes more widespread Monday afternoon and evening as several upper level disturbances move across the front. Heaviest snow appears to be Monday night through Tuesday morning. Then a brief lull Tuesday afternoon before the next upper level system moves across the region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Areas highlighted in the watch likely to see the most snow with this event. Stay tuned if you're planning travel through southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle the next several days. Travel impacts are expected.''
