Court Rejects Appeal by Cheyenne Man Who Had Sex With Teen

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Supreme Court has upheld child sex abuse convictions for a Cheyenne man sentenced last year to up to 16 years in prison.

Last week's ruling by the state's highest court rejects an appeal from 47-year-old Julian Marfil, who was convicted of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Court documents say Marfil had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, who gave birth to his child in September 2014. The alleged abuse occurred from July 2013 to his arrest in January 2014.

Marfil had appealed his convictions, arguing that a district court judge erred by not allowing the jury to receive an instruction proposed by his attorneys defining sexual "infliction" as something unwelcome.
