The City of Cheyenne has reached a contract agreement with Cheyenne Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 279, according to a press release from the city. The release says the two sides reached an agreement on a one year contract on Friday. The contract does not include a wage increase for the firefighters, according to the release, which says the 2 sides agreed to not increase wages because of the overall state of the economy as well as the tight budget situation faced by the city.  The agreement means the two sides will not have to pursue arbitration to reach a new contract, even though the legal procedure for arbitration was already underway.
