A 36-year-old Cheyenne woman accused of smuggling methamphetamine into the Laramie County Jail in her vagina has waived her preliminary hearing.

Lynn Martinez appeared before Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Denise Nau Friday afternoon.

Martinez is charged with taking a controlled substance into a penal institution and felony possession of methamphetamine. She's also charged with misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

According to court documents, a deputy at the jail spotted a bag containing 17.9 grams of meth on the bed inside Martinez's cell on the morning of February 26.

Martinez reportedly told authorities that she brought the meth into the jail inside her vagina, removed it and fell asleep. She said she had planned on flushing it, but fell asleep before she had the chance.

Nau split Martinez's bond. She's currently being held on $3,000 for the felony charges and $1,500 for the misdemeanor charges.

Martinez could face up to 12 years in prison and/or $20,000 in fines if convicted on all four counts. Her arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.
