Cheyenne based-meteorologist Don Day Jr. says an approaching major winter storm could pose serious dangers to winter travelers as well as to livestock on farms and ranches in eastern Wyoming, northern Colorado. and the Nebraska Panhandle.

Day is the founder and proprietor of Dayweather Inc. in Cheyenne.

He says that while the storm will not arrive in the area until late Tuesday or early Wednesday, it has all the components that would be needed for a truly major late-winter storm.

Day is not alone in warning about the potential severity of the storm. The Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service says it could produce blizzard conditions, including 50 mph winds and heavy snowfall

He alerted livestock owners and anyone who may have travel plans in the area around mid-week to be wary of the situation.  He said young calves may especially be at risk from the storm.

Day spoke with Glenn Woods of KGAB Radio on Monday morning about the expected winter onslaught.
