The Cheyenne East volleyball team took 4th place at last year's state tournament so that is something to build on. The T-Birds have a couple of returning all-state players in Boden Liljedahl and Elysiana Fonseca so that's a great start right there. Throw in 6-4 Jenna Merritt and sophomore, Taliah Morris and this East team is going to be tough on everybody.

The T-Birds ended up in 3rd place at the big Gillette Tournament over the weekend with wins over Burns, Natrona, Wright, and Rapid City Stevens. East beat Stevens in the 3rd place match 19-25, 25-22, and 15-12. On Saturday, East lost an epic match to Kelly Walsh 28-26 and 27-25. The Thunderbirds were down 10 in that 2nd set but showed a tremendous amount of fortitude.

We had a chance to speak with Jenna Merritt and Boden Liljedahl about that match with KW and the season to date. Enjoy!

How Many Medals Have Wyoming-Born Athletes Won at the Olympics?

Wyoming isn't represented on Team USA for the 2020 (in 2021) Olympics in Tokyo. But, athletes born in Wyoming have competed for the gold a handful of times over the last century.

According to the folks at BeenVerified.com, seven Wyoming-born Olympians have competed on the world's largest stage.

Since the 1932 LA games, these competitors earned four Olympic medals; one gold, two silver, and a bronze. Wrestling, Track and Field, and Rowing are the evens where Wyoming-natives have shined.
