The Cheyenne Day of Giving works to help low- to moderate-income residents, as well as patients of any income range, who need blood donations, a bone marrow transplant, and an organ/tissue donation. Day of Giving also acts as a safety net for local agencies year-round to purchase items needed by clients but not donated by the public.

Examples of items purchased in the past year include:

  • Underwear, camisoles, and socks for students helped by Operation Back to School
  • School supplies, underwear, socks, and laundry detergent for mothers and children at Safehouse, and for members of Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne
  • Mops, buckets, laundry detergent, clothing racks, silverware, towels, and cleaning supplies to help the abused women at Safehouse Services set up new apartments
  • Canned fruits, vegetables, spaghetti, tomato products, peanut butter, and other staples for the food boxes Needs, Inc. gives to families in need
  • Frozen breakfast and dinner items, hair dryers and laundry detergent for the patients and families staying at Home Away From Home
  • Underwear, diapers and baby supplies for clients served by Interfaith Family Support Services
  • Non-latex gloves for employees and manicure sets for clients at Magic City Enterprises
  • Soup, pasta, canned fruits, vegetables, and diapers for St. Joseph's Food Pantry and Salvation Army
  • Granola bars, bowls, foot powder, and reading glasses for Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless.
9th Annual Day of Giving Will Include:

Donate non-perishable food, personal care items, and craft supplies

  • Including all sizes of canned and non-perishable food
  • Personal care items such as shampoo, deodorant, soap and new underwear
  • Craft items such as pompoms, scrapbooking supplies, pipe cleaners, poster board, googly eyes, and yarn

Donate blood

  • At the Day of Giving
  • Call United Blood Services at 307.638.3326 to make an appointment to give anytime in the name of Day of Giving.

Register as an organ and tissue donor

  • Sign up with Donate Life Wyoming at the Day of Giving event or go to www.donatelifewyoming.org for more information/ to register

Donate leftover prescription medications and medical supplies

  • Bring prescription medications in original package with patient name blacked out
  • Bring medical supplies such as diabetes test strips, disposable briefs, CPAPs, and more

Donate durable medical equipment

  • Able to accept walkers, shower chairs, visual aids, commodes, wheelchairs, recliner lift chairs, and other adaptive equipment
  • Due to limited storage space, unable to accept hospital beds

Donate prescription eyeglasses, hearing aids, and used cell phones and chargers

Register as a bone marrow donor

  • Be 18-44 years old and in good general health
  • Answer some confidential health questions and do four cheek swabs
  • Call the Colorado Marrow Donor Program at 1.800.619.1099 for more information
