The man who was recently voted as Cheyenne's "Citizen Of The Year" in a Townsquare Media online poll has some advice for people who are thinking about doing something to improve our community: Just Do it.

Angel Maldonado says if you decide to do something, don't think about it. Just do it. ''You'll be surprised at the results you get when you just do it." Maldonado, who is the owner of the Presidential Barbershop in Cheyenne, is the organizer of the ''We Got Your Back" campaign in Cheyenne, which has distributed thousands of backpacks and school supplies to local kids.

He's also given out free haircuts, organized Christmas gift drives and generally gone over and above in making Cheyenne a better place to live. He says some of the motivation for what he does came from his own childhood in Brooklyn, New York.

His mom, a single parent, worked hard and did everything she could for her family. Even so, times were often tough. But he remembers the help he got as a kid from people who went the extra mile.

Now, he is trying to do the same.

We sat down recently with Angel Maldonado on the ''Weekend in Wyoming' program. You can hear the full interview below.

10+ Places in Cheyenne Named After Veterans
