One of Cheyenne's favorite bakeries earned more national recognition this week when The Daily Meal crowned the egg salad sandwich at the Bread Basket as the best in Wyoming for the second year in a row.

"The folks here know to keep it simple and let the bread speak for itself," the Daily Meal wrote about their sandwiches. "They’re nothing short of ideal versions of classic lunchtime fare."

The popular bakery and lunch spot occupies the ground floor of a 99-year-old building on 1819 Maxwell Avenue. Along with sandwiches and soups, the Bread Basket is also known for their fresh-baked brownies, cakes, cookies, muffins, and rolls.

Tana Geerdes and her husband have owned the business since 2003. She's humbled by the attention, but she doesn't necessarily agree with the list.

"Personally, I like our chicken salad better," she admitted.
