A Sheridan native who had been attending college in northern California has been found dead.

According to a press release from Humboldt State University, the body of 22-year-old Erin Elizabeth Henry was found at the bottom of Elephant Rock near U.S. Highway 101 on Friday morning.

Police have reported no signs of foul play.

A CalTrans employee working along the highway found Henry's knee scooter -- which she needed in order to get around, having suffered a broken ankle recently -- and notified police.

Officers responded and searched the area, ultimately finding her body a short distance east of the highway.

Arcata Police Chief Tom Chapman told the North Coast Journal that Henry's body had apparently been there for some time -- probably since shortly after she was last seen on Nov. 25. She was reported missing Nov. 30.

Chapman told the Journal that investigators believe Henry may have jumped or fallen from the rock.

Chapman told the Journal that it's still unclear how Henry, who had a broken ankle and was reportedly unable to walk without crutches or a knee scooter, made it 13 miles from her home to Elephant Rock.
