LARAMIE -- On Sunday, April 21, deputies with the Albany County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a dead body located near Blair Wallis Road in the Medicine Bow National Forest between Laramie and Cheyenne.

Undersheriff Josh Debree said the body was later identified as Brent Dougherty, 35, of Cheyenne.

DeBree said Dougherty was reported missing January 21, after he was last seen walking down Blair Wallis Road near the Summit rest area off Interstate 80. In the days following his disappearance that area experienced heavy snowfall and strong winds, making search efforts difficult.

A cause of death has yet to be determined and an autopsy has been scheduled. This is still an active investigation.
