The Bureau of Land Management has announced they are now accepting applications for seasonal fire jobs for the summer of 2018.

“We’re looking for people from all walks of life who enjoy the outdoors, have a sense of adventure and are interested in joining our workforce. These positions include firefighters assigned to engines, hand crews or helicopters, prescribed fire and dispatch,” said Fire Prevention Specialist Carmen Thomason.
If you'd like to be a seasonal wildland firefighter, you're encouraged to apply early. Most job announcements open in December and first consideration for hiring may begin in January, even though the crews don't start work until summer.

To apply, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and pass a work capacity test (pack test) on the first day, excluding dispatch. Some of the positions may also require a valid state driver’s license. Those who are hired will receive training and previous firefighting experience is not a requirement for entry level positions. Base hourly pay can range from $12.53-$15.74 per hour. The seasonal positions provide employment for a limited time, usually six months or less.

Applications are only accepted online at USAJOBS, www.usajobs.gov. Enter the keyword "BLM-FIRE-2018" and "Wyoming" in the search boxes on the top of the page.

You can find more hiring information and guidance on the application process at Additional hiring information and application guidance, as well as local contact information and more information about the duty stations, at Wildland Fire Jobs U.S. Department of the Interior.
