Are Peanuts A Thing Of The Past At Coors Field?
The Hartford Yard Goats are a Double-A affiliate to the Colorado Rockies and they have decided to ban peanuts from their park for the whole 2019 season, according to Hartford Courant.
Over the past several years major league ballparks across the country have designated days where no peanuts will not be served during the whole game or they have areas where there are no peanuts being sold. Baseball parks are trying to be more conscious of the growing number of peanut allergies amongst children. Last year the Yard Goats hosted two nights of peanut-free products in the park, but for 2019 every home game will not serve peanuts.
Last year on September 3rd, the Colorado Rockies hosted a peanut allergy-friendly game. If you had an allergy, you paid $35 for a ticket and had your own private gathering in the Mezzanine Party Suites.
Peanuts are apart of baseball, as a kid, there was nothing that got me more excited than when the peanut guy would walk the aisles yelling, "peanuts, I got your peanuts here." For the 7th inning stretch, baseball fans love singing, 'Take me out to the ballgame,' in the second line it says, "buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks," not anymore. This song is over 100 years old and will have to be changed now and never sung at a Yard Goats game again.
First, it's the peanuts, then what's next?
