The Central Wyoming Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute made a donation this week to the Natrona County School District to eliminate all outstanding school lunch and breakfast debt that had accumulated as of Dec. 12.

The "incredible donation will have a significant and positive impact" on hundreds of families, district spokeswoman Tanya Southerland said in a news release Friday.

"This donation was able to be made due to the significant amount of community partnership work API does in our community," said Southerland. "They are dedicated to bringing together the community for various events throughout the year and then utilize the funds raised by our community, to give back to our community. Specifically, they support our students and schools with donations to Wyoming Food For Thought Project, scholarship opportunities, NCHS's Angel Closet, this incredible donation to pay off past-due lunch balances, and so much more."

The API donates to roughly 30-35 charities in and around Casper, according to Board Co-Chair Jason Boe of Eighty-Eight Oil, LLC.

"We've very fortunate to have such an awesome community that comes out and supports our events," API Board Chair, Ben Mills of KLX Energy Services, said.

"We are tremendously grateful for this donation," the district's Executive Director of Human Resources, Steve Ellbogen, said. "Our community's kindness and generosity is unmatched, we thank you!"
