CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Burns man has been found guilty of murder for shooting his wife in the face last summer.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that 61-year-old Ronald Zimmerman is now facing 20 years to life in prison.

A sentencing hearing will be held in a few months, following a pre-sentencing investigation.

The jury declined to find Zimmerman guilty of the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. He had argued that the shooting was an accident.

He said he was fiddling with the 12-gague shotgun on the evening of July 20 when it went off and killed Teresa Zimmerman.

Prosecutors argued Zimmerman's actions were intentional.

During the trial, Zimmerman said he has been permanently disabled since 2005, when he fell about 30 feet from a scaffold and fractured his skull.
