Visitation to Yellowstone National Park for the month of July is up almost 6 percent compared to the previous year.  

Park spokesman Al Nash say visitation for the first seven months of 2014 is nearing the two million mark.

Nash says there were 858,857 recreational visits to Yellowstone in July and a total of 1,943,683 for the first seven months of 2014 That compares to 812,212 recreational visits for July 2013 and 1,828,862 recreational visits for January through July 2013.

He says visitation at each of the park’s five entrances for the month of July and for the first seven months of 2014 is up compared to 2013 levels, with the greatest increase continuing at the West entrance.

The highest percentage growth in visitation continues to be in the number of bus passengers.The July bus passenger numbers are up 43 percent at the South entrance, 23 percent at the West entrance, and 19 percent at the East entrance compared to June 2013.
