Yellowstone Reports Strong June Visitation
Visitation to Yellowstone National Park for the month of June is up more than 7 percent compared to the previous year. Visitation for the first six months of the 2014 is over the one million mark.
Spokesman Dan Hottle said there were 669,642 recreational visits to Yellowstone in June and a total of 1,084,827 for the first six months of 2014. That compares to 624,429 recreational visits for June 2013 and 1,016,651 recreational visits for January through June 2013.
Visitation at each of the park’s five entrances for the month of June and for the first half of 2014 is up compared to 2013 levels. The park’s west entrance recorded the most significant increase, up over twelve and half percent in June compared to the previous year.
Hottle said the highest percentage growth in visitation is in the number of bus passengers, with June bus passenger numbers up almost 25 percent at the North entrance, nearly 34 percent at the West Entrance, and up almost 39 percent at the South entrance compared to June 2013.
July is typically the park’s peak visitation month, followed in order by August, June, September, and May.
