Yellowstone National Park has closed Sylvan Pass -- the road from the East Entrance to the Lake Butte Overlook -- for all oversnow travel beginning today to clear the road, according to a news release.

All oversnow travel will end for the season at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 15.

Spring plowing will begin after roads close.

The park encourages visitors to plan accordingly, heed road closures, and obtain the latest forecast before traveling.

Road information can be found on the park website. The map on that page, in addition to phone recordings, will be updated as conditions change.

For the public road report call (307) 344-2117.

To receive Yellowstone road alerts on your mobile phone, text "82190" to 888-777 (an automatic text reply will confirm receipt and provide instructions).
