Located just outside of Lander, Wyoming, Sinks Canyon is home to Wyoming's disappearing river. But where in the world does it disappear to?

As best we can tell, the Popo Agie (po-po-zsha) River comes out of the Wind River Mountains and then flows towards some curves until it hits and cave and then it disappears.

Those who have observed the river's activity say that when it goes to the cave, it 'sinks' out of sight, only to 'reappear', about a quarter-mile away in a calm and larger pool called 'The Rise."

It wasn't until scientists put a safe dye into the river and found that the water that disappears into the 'sink', or cave, is the same water that shows up in 'The Rise.'

Now you know the rest of the story, but if you're ever out near Lander, Wyoming, you may want to check it out for yourself.
