Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen is getting closer to returning from injury, as the Cowboys prepare for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl next Friday.

The junior signal caller hasn’t played since leaving after four plays in the second half at Air Force Nov. 11.

Allen visited with media Monday and said the Pokes have gone through three bowl game practices; said he’s improving each day and put himself in the 90’s percent-wise, in terms of recovery from his sprained AC joint, but the injury itself is healed. Allen admitted to going through reps with the No. 1 offense, but still feels some pain while throwing. He reiterated he wants to play, but that decision hasn’t been made.

On the lighter side of things, Josh said when it comes to a favorite potato, it's "Fries." He also has his favorites, whether it's type of fry or place in Laramie.

Allen and the Cowboys face Central Michigan in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
