It has been reported that our fine Wyoming teachers may see the Wyoming Legislature "roll back" their salaries to what they were in 2013. Are they the next victims of the cuts?

I am proud of our teachers, not only in Wyoming, but especially here in Laramie County. They are the first line defense, when it comes to educating our children. I understand that not all parents can afford to send their kids to a private school and may not have the strength or opportunity to home school.

Thanks to a decrease in revenues from Wyoming's precious resources, we, as a state, find ourselves in a bit of a budget crunch.

The $20,000.00 question is, what do we cut in order to stay within our budget. Well, some seem to think our teachers. But what about the Administration of these school districts?

  • A Director's entry level salary is $111,399 a year and capping out at $147,646.
  • Assistant Director - entry level is $99,170 and caps out at $ 133.966
  • Senior High Principal - 142,639 capped per year
  • Jr High Principal - $133,235 capped per year

You see where we're going with this. Instead of socking it to our teachers, how about the administrative end taking a hit also. After all, those teachers probably have purchased houses and cars that they're trying to pay off and cutting their pay will lower their standard of living and possibly put some of them in debt.

I think the state should find other places to cut costs besides going after our fine teachers here in the Cowboy State.
