CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Supreme Court has imposed a $500 sanction on a Cheyenne lawyer following a claim by the state Attorney General's Office that he intentionally tried to mislead the court.

The court this week sanctioned lawyer Dion Custis and ordered him to file a revised brief on behalf of a client who's appealing sexual assault convictions.
The attorney general's office in August claimed Custis had misrepresented the testimony of a government witness. Custis recently filed a response saying he made an inadvertent error.

The Supreme Court order sanctioning Custis states that regardless of whether the misrepresentation in the brief was inadvertent, it shouldn't have happened. The court notes that the AG's Office has referred the matter to the Wyoming State Bar said the disciplinary process will run its course.
