Brian Hill ran for 207 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wyoming Cowboys past the UC Davis Aggies 45-22 last Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

Hill scored on runs of three and 59 yards in route to his sixth career 200-yard rushing day. Hill moved up to third on Wyoming’s career rushing list. He passed Marques Brigham and Wynel Seldon in the process.

Josh Allen added a career best three touchdown passes, and the Cowboys defense held UC Davis to 255 total yards.

Wyoming (2-1) got off to a fast start. They scored on their first two offensive series. Allen connected with Tanner Gentry on a 16-yard TD pass on the game’s opening drive. Three plays later Rico Gafford intercepted a pass and returned it 32 yards to the Aggies 3-yard line. Hill took it in on the next play for a 14-0 lead.

UC Davis (1-2) scored the next nine points. That included a 21-yard fumble return for a touchdown by the Aggies Keleen Culberson.

The Pokes responded with four consecutive rushing plays. The last was a burst up the middle and to the right by Hill for a 59-yard touchdown and a 21-9 lead. Allen threw TD passes of 39 yards to Jake Maulhardt and 37 yards to C.J. Johnson. It was 35-9 at half.

The Aggies scored on the first drive of the second half, but UW came back with an Allen 3-yard TD run and a 21-yard field goal by Cooper Rothe. UC Davis closed the scoring with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Wyoming finished with 472 yards on offense. They ran for 274 yards. Allen was 11-of-15 passing for 198 yards. Antonio Hill led the defense with eight tackles, which included one for a loss. UW had a pair of sacks and a fumble recovery in addition to the interception.

UC Davis QB Ben Scott went 18-of-31 for 178 yards, a touchdown and a pick before he left with an injury in the fourth quarter. The Aggies were held to 74 yards rushing.

Next up for the Cowboys is their final non-conference game on a short week. They play at Eastern Michigan Friday at 5:30 p.m., Mountain Time.
