Wyoming Remembers The Man Who “Had A Dream” Martin Luther King Jr

It was on this date, in the year was 1929, that a little black boy was born by the name of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was a baptist preacher, peaceful activist and a leader in the negro civil rights movement in America.

He was born on January 15, so today we think about the man who had a dream, that all men would judged according to the content of their character, instead of the color of their skin.

Dr. King was also a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his peaceful protests and impact that his life had on negro men and women across America and America herself.

He was able to advance the civil rights movement by participating in non-violent, peaceful protests, which included people of all color. Actor James Gardner, of "The Rockford Files" fame, and others like him, participated in the marches as well.

Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference was born and, in part, his efforts helped to bring about the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Dr. King was assassinated at The Lorraine Motel, in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. Today, The Lorraine Motel is an attraction, located at the National Civil Rights Museum, in Memphis, Tennessee.
