JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming lawmakers are concerned after recent audits showed continuing widespread problems with district reporting.

In one case, a district over-reported local revenue and the state owed the district $1.3 million.

State audit manager for school district finance Justin Chavez says some bookkeeping errors go back seven years.

The problems point to a deeper issue of lack of understanding by some districts on how to follow state reporting requirements.

Some of the errors have been traced to districts inadvertently combining local, county and state revenue in reports filed with the state.
