Police are investigating after a Wyoming homeowner found a man's body Monday afternoon.

The name of the deceased has not been released, and Basin Police Chief Chris Kampbell says the cause of death has not yet been determined.

In a press release, Kampbell says that on Monday, a homeowner in the 600 block of West A Street in Basin called police after finding a man's body lying in the yard next to the garage, near an alleyway.

Police officers and deputies of the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office responded. They, along with the Big Horn County Coroner's Office, examined the scene.

Police estimate the man died some 12-15 hours before his body was found.

"As unusual as this incident is, there does not appear to be any obvious signs of foul play," Kampbell said in the press release. "It is really unclear what caused this person's death. It may have been a natural event, environmental or some other cause yet to be determined."

"We really do not know yet," Kampbell concluded.

An autopsy has been scheduled for a later date.
