RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the killing of two people in Hudson. The Riverton Ranger reports Laziur Stephen Hanway Jr. apologized for his actions during his sentencing last week and said he was a coward for participating in the 2011 robbery plot that led to Eric Likes and Elva Quiver’s deaths.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The National Rifle Association and Safari Club International are blaming wolves for bringing down the quality of big-game hunting in northwestern Wyoming. The groups are asking to intervene in Washington, D.C., and Wyoming lawsuits, to oppose environmental groups’ push to reinstate federal protections for the predators in Wyoming.

MANDERSON, Wyo. (AP) — A man and a woman from Worland are dead following a head-on crash involving a car and a semitrailer in Big Horn County. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports 52-year-old Ralph R. Trujillo’s Pontiac crossed the centerline on U.S. Highway 20 and slammed into a semitrailer. Trujillo and his passenger were killed.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming’s unemployment rate held steady in January at a robust 4.9 percent. The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reports the rate is down from a year earlier when it was at 5.7 percent. The figure is well below that national rate of 7.9 percent.
