CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming company is mulling a project to store power generated by a Platte County wind farm. Winhyne Energy Group hopes to begin testing the nine-turbine wind project at a site near Guernsey by late 2014. The Casper Star-Tribune reports the energy stored would be used to power turbines during times of low wind.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Tribal courts will have the authority to prosecute non-Indians in domestic violence cases under a bill signed into law by President Barack Obama. The measure is seen as a huge step forward by many who live on reservations and decry the high rates of domestic violence with no prosecution there. But some say it could take years to make a difference.

TORRINGTON, Wyo. (AP) — Federal regulators say Wyoming Ethanol LLC will pay $49,000 to settle allegations that it didn’t properly report toxic substances at its plant in Torrington or have a tough enough risk management program. The Environmental Protection Agency says the alleged deficiencies were found during a May inspection.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming is reporting a 34-student increase in enrollment for the spring semester compared to last year. UW Vice President for Student Affairs Sara Axelson says after all outreach school numbers are counted, student enrollment should again surpass 13,000 by the end of the semester.
