Wyoming Lottery Announces Powerball Changes

Wyoming Lottery CEO Jon Clontz wants state residents to know they now have a better chance of winning smaller prizes in the multi-state Powerball Lottery.

Clontz says the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which oversees the Powerball Lottery, has decided to increase the odds of winning prizes in the range of up to $50,000 or so in an effort to attract more players.

Players also have the option of paying more when buying a ticket to multiply the potential prize package by five or ten times, meaning the amount won could be much larger even among the lower tier prize packages.

Clontz says overall your chance of winning any prize in the Powerball will increase from roughly 1 in 32 to 1 in 25.

The odds of winning the jackpot are smaller, increasing from roughly 1 in 175 million to 1 in 292 million. But Clontz says the other side of that is the jackpot prize should become much larger with the changes.
