POWELL, Wyo. (AP) — A project to move a 1940s barrack back to the site of the Heart Mountain Relocation Camp in Park County has won national recognition.

The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation says it has been named a 2016 Leadership in History award winner by the American Association for State and Local History.

The foundation's project involved successfully moving an original Heart Mountain barrack back to the site of the former Heart Mountain War Relocation Center between Cody and Powell.

The building was first used to house Japanese Americans at Heart Mountain. It was later used to house returning World War II veterans in Greybull, and then used to house Iowa State University students at a geology field studies camp near the town of Shell.
