98 years ago today, in 1918, World War I ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. It was called "The war to end all wars," it was so heinous. Humans didn't learn and turned up the heat over the years. Fighting for freedom and justice, protecting our national interests, American men & women stepped up to place themselves between great evil and our country. Our way of life, a shining beacon to the world, is because of the great sacrifice of our armed forces. We recognize that on Veteran's Day.

It was 1st recognized as Armistice Day, but is now called Veteran’s Day.

Cheyenne will recognize the day with a ceremony at American Legion Post 6 on East Lincolnway starting at 11 a.m.

Applebee's -Applebee's will offer a complimentary meal to veterans on Nov. 11.

Buffalo Wild Wings – Buffalo Wild Wings is offering a free order of wings and side of fries to veterans and active duty military.

Chili's – Chili's is offering a free entrée from a select menu on Nov. 11 for veterans, retirees and active duty personnel.

Chipotle – Chipotle is offering buy one/get one free on burritos, bowls, salad or order of tacos for all active duty, reserves, national guard or retired military, military spouses with ID and veterans. Offer good Nov. 11 from 3 p.m. local time until close.

Cracker Barrel – Cracker Barrel is offering veterans a complimentary slice of its Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake on Nov. 11.

Denny's – Denny's is offering a free Build Your Own Grand Slam to all active, inactive and retired military personnel on Nov. 11 from 5 a.m. – noon.

IHOP – IHOP is offering free Red, White & Blue Pancakes   7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Nov. 11 to all veterans and active-duty military personnel.

Little Caesar's Pizza – Veterans and active duty military can get a free pizza or $5 Hot-N-Ready Lunch Combo on Nov. 11 between 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Olive Garden - On Veterans Day, Olive Garden restaurants will offer a free entrée from a special menu to active-duty military and military veterans.

Outback Steakhouse - Veterans and active duty personnel can get a free Bloomin' Onion and beverage on Nov. 11 and take 15 percent off the entire check from Nov. 12 to Dec. 31.

Red Lobster – Red Lobster is offering a free appetizer or free dessert to veterans, retired and active-duty military personnel on Nov. 10 and Nov. 11. Veterans, active-duty, retired or reservist military personnel only need to show a valid military ID or proof of service to redeem the offer.

Texas Roadhouse - Texas Roadhouse is offering a free meal to veterans, military retirees and active duty service members on Nov. 11. Diners can choose from one of 10 entrees. Guests must show proof of service such as military or VA card, or discharge papers. The offer is good from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

National Park Service - The National Park Service is waiving entrance fees for parks on Nov. 11. Active duty military members and their dependents can pick up a free military annual pass at any national park that usually charges a fee. A free lifetime pass is also available to disabled veterans. These passes provide free entrance to more than 2,000 national parks, wildlife refuges, national forests, and other federal recreational areas. More information about the passes can be found here.

Bed Bath and Beyond -  Veterans, active duty, Reserves, Guard and spouses get 25 percent off their entire purchase through Nov. 13.

Great Clips - Great Clips is offering veterans a free hair cut from Nov. 11 through Dec. 31.  Customers who come in for a service on Veterans Day get a free haircut card to give to veterans, redeemable through Dec. 31.

Home Depot - Home Depot is offering a free Build a Veteran's Day Jet workshop for kids ages 5 -12. The event runs from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and includes a craft, certificate of achievement, workshop apron, and commemorative pin while supplies last. Veterans also receive 10 percent discounts on purchases.

JC Penney - JC Penney is offering 5 percent discounts on Nov. 10-13 for current and former military personnel and their immediate family members with valid military or VA identification provided in-store. The discount may be combined with additional coupons and special offers including a $10 off $25 coupon with any form of payment or 20 percent off coupon when paying with a JCPenney credit card.

Lowe's – Lowe's is offering all veterans and their family 10 percent off purchases on Nov. 11.

Meineke Veterans and active duty military will be eligible to receive a free Basic Oil Change at participating Meineke locations on Nov. 11.

Walgreens – Walgreens' customers with Balance Rewards cards and valid military I.D. can take 20 percent off all eligible purchases.
