Wyoming Football Adds QB Levi Williams, Who Enrolls Early

A hot-shot quarterback has enrolled early and is on campus, as the University of Wyoming football program announced the signing of Levi Williams Monday.

Williams is 6-5 and 215-pounds. He played his high school football at Smithson Valley High School in Canyon Lake, TX just north of the San Antonio area.

Wyoming beat out the likes of Houston, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and TCU for Williams, who is rated a three-star recruit by Rivals, 247 Sports, and ESPN.

In a release from the University of Wyoming, head coach Craig Bohl was very complimentary of the Cowboys’ newest player.

"We are excited that Levi (Williams) is on our campus starting this semester. He was part of an excellent high school program, and I've known his high school coach for many years. He played in a very competitive league. Levi has a strong arm and good athleticism. I think he has an excellent value system to be able to come in and be the type of quarterback we are looking for here at Wyoming."

During his senior season, Williams was named First Team All-District 26-6A. He was Second Team All-San Antonio area. Class 6A is the top classification in Texas High School football. Last fall Williams threw for 3,239 yards and 32 touchdowns. He ran for 1,230 yards and 16 more scores. That’s 4,469 yards of total offense and 48 TD’s responsible for.

Williams also received Academic All-District honors twice in his high school career. He was team captain his senior season and coached by Larry Hill at Smithson Valley High School. Williams also ran track.

UW also announced that wide receiver Devin Jennings from Houston, TX, who signed last month enrolled early for the spring semester. He’s from Channelview High School in Houston, TX. Jennings was chosen First Team All-District 21-6A.

Williams becomes the 19th member of the 2019 recruiting class. The previous 18 signed in December. The next signing date is February 6.
