Registration for the Wyoming Economic Development Association’s (WEDA) winter conference is open.The conference, titled “Engines of Prosperity – Driving our Economies,” will be held Feb. 11-12 at the Little America Hotel in Cheyenne, WY. The annual economic development conference will feature panels and speakers who will focus on economic development strategies to help all Wyoming communities succeed no matter what their size.

Governor Matt Mead will kick off the conference at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Wyoming. State Treasurer Mark Gordon will give the first presentation on how to use Industrial Revenue Bonds as a Wyoming economic development tool. The Dept. of Workforce Services will follow with a panel to highlight successes in workforce training programs around the state.

Wednesday’s keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Ron Coan, editor of the Journal of Applied Research in Economic Development.  Coan, CEcD and Ph.D., is also a senior fellow at the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness and an adjunct at Johns Hopkins University.  His presentation, “The Road Less Traveled: For Economic Developers who have the Courage to be Different,” will present relevant information to help Wyoming communities enhance their retention and expansion programs for existing businesses.
