The Wyoming Cowboys have added a pair of transfers in recent days with Brodricks Jones and Nyaires Redding joining the program.

Jones is a 6-10, 220-pound forward from Los Angeles, CA. He is transferring from the University of Texas El-Paso (UTEP). Jones averaged 1.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16 games for the Miners last year.

Wyoming head coach Allen Edwards said in a release from the University of Wyoming,

“We are excited about Brodricks’ size and versatility, and he fits the direction we want to bring this program. Next season will be a great opportunity to teach him the process of our system and coaching him on areas that will help him contribute to this team down the road.”

Jones was a four-star recruit and national top-100 player out of high school according to Rivals.com. In three seasons at the varsity level, Jones averaged a double-double. His senior season at Lawndale High School, he averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds per game and received First Team All-CIF Division 2AA honors. Jones helped his squad to the finals of the CIF State Division II Championship.

Jones will sit out the 2016-17 season to fulfill NCAA transfer rules and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The second transfer, Redding, comes from Washington State to UW and will be a walk-on with the Pokes. Redding is the step-son of new Cowboys’ assistant coach Jermaine Kimbrough. He will also sit out next season and have two years of eligibility left.

Redding is a 6-2, 166-pound guard, who appeared in 60 games for the Cougars. He started 22 during the two seasons at WSU. Redding averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 rebounds.

Kimbrough stated in a UW release, “We are extremely excited to have Nyaires join the program with his experience playing in the PAC-12 Conference. He brings leadership and experience to the team both on the floor and in the locker-room.”

Redding enjoyed a marvelous senior season at Westwind Prep in Phoenix, AZ. His senior year, Nyaires averaged 29.8 points, 2.1 steals and 8.7 assists per game. He shot 53 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free throw line. Redding was First Team All-State, a tournament MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Also a team captain, he compiled five 40-point games in that season.
