The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne has issued a statement about the possibility of winter weather in southeast Wyoming for the week of December 5.

The statement reads as follows:

Temperatures

Confidence is high that temperatures will plummet to some of the coldest readings of the season so far Monday night through Wednesday night with this system. High temperatures may struggle to get out of the teens in the mountains/high valleys of Carbon & Albany Counties, and teens/low 20s across the plains of southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle.  Overnight lows look to drop into the single digits to below zero.

Snow & Wind
Confidence in chances for snow is low.
The forecast models continue to be variable with the track and timing of the main system, so we do not have a good handle if, how much, and where the snow will happen (we are still 6-7 days out). However, a general feeling is that light snow could accompany the main cold front that looks to slide south across our area late Sunday night/Monday, with a chance for more widespread (and possibly heavier) snow Tues-Wed. Winds will likely be gusty, but do not look terribly strong at this time.

We'll certainly be keeping a close eye on this system over the next week, but wanted to at least give a heads up.
