WYDOT Crews Completing Detour on WYO 70

WYDOT crews are nearing completion of a detour around the destroyed road section of WYO 70 at milepost 31. Opening will be Friday at daylight.  WYDOT spokesman Ross Doman says the passageway is a single-lane dirt road with a gravel surface. It provides 12 feet of width and will operate as one way alternating traffic. Posted speed limit will be ten miles per hour. Restrictions through the detour section are 30,000 pounds gross vehicle weight and under. A ten foot width maximum will be enforced and long loads are discouraged.WYDOT urges motorists to respect fellow travelers and cooperate through the detour. Turn on your headlights, even in the daytime. Please do not slow to take pictures. Put down the cell phone and avoid fiddling with the radio. Certainly, do not park in this section and remain alert for WYDOT personnel in the area. Notice of the opening will be posted on on signs along I-80 and locations at Walcott Jct, Creston Jct, Baggs, and Encampment.
