Laramie County Commissioner Ron Kailey Jr. says he thinks the city-owned Belvoir Ranch might be a good location for a park.

Kailey says he thinks Eugene Mahoney State Park in eastern Nebraska might be a good model for what could be done at Belvoir.

He says the Nebraska park includes such things as horseback riding miniature golf and paddleboating and is an attraction to people from across the region. Kailey notes that some of the intended purposes the city had in mind when it purchased the property "haven't panned out", but adds the property could still be an asset to the area.

The county doesn't own the Belvoir Ranch, and Kailey notes most of the work at the Nebraska park was done through private donations.
